What is the best Ham Radio Antenna Tower To Use ? Well you have the Free Standers, Guyed Towers, Crank Up Towers and Tilt Over Towers. In the past I had a 40 foot antenna tower that I designed to tilt over and lay right up the pitch of the house roof. We basically lived behind a school field, so we tied a heavy duty rope to the truck. Next we would slowly let the tower tilt over and lay up the roof. I then went up on the roof and did whatever repair needed to be done. I had that tower cemented into the ground, wall mounted to the garage and had some guy wires on it as well. Needless to say it never had a problem. What can I say, my Mom loved me. Hi Hi
If I ever put up a tower again, it will be a crank up tower, with a motor winch. Plus it will have the capability to tilt over. There other idea I like is to have the ham antenna tower tram set up. The tram will ride up and down the tower for easy maintenance. The only issue I have heard about is that the tram can get stuck. I have heard of some hams replacing the wheels with other wheels. I would suggest doing some searching youtube for various videos that may help.
The main thing with any ham radio tower is stay safe. Check out your area thoroughly for high power lines and anything that may make a dangerous situation.
